CRICKET.

Geraldine v. Zingari. This match was continued at Geraldine on Saturday in line criket weather.' The pitch -played well with the exception that a nasty hump developed at the pavilion end. Geraldine left in an almost hopeless position made a good light to avoid a three point win being registered against them, but although they did not accomplish this they were unlucky in not doing so. (Continuing their over-tveek score of 15(5 for 5 wickets, Zingari raised their total total to 216, and left Geraldine 132 to get to save the innings defeat. Muff and Houlihan started fairly well, but the latter was given out Ibw when he appeared to be settling down for a score. Grieve followed and with Muff put on 32 runs before he lost his wicket. He called Muff for a run, but the latter did not respond, and Grieve, who had to turn, just failed to make the crease. It was an unfortunate misunderstanding for there was an easy run and Muff would have been in no danger of being run out had lie responded to the call. iStonewigg and Muff put on i 35 for the third wicket, and Ragg, who was a bit patchy to start with helped (Stonewigg to put on 38 'for the fourth wicket. 'Muff, when well set, and batting freely was beaten by a good ball for Herdman, who was varying his pace well. The ball was slightly slower than the previous balls of the over, and came right across the wicket. Stonewigg, who had played very ipa’tient cricket, this first ten runs were singles, next fell a victim to Herdman and opened his shoulders to a straight one and paid the penalty with the fall of his wicket. Geraldine’s chances faded away, foi’ the tail failed to come to light, and though the Zingari total was passed: they were sent in with a quarter of -an hour in which to obtain three- runs, which they obtained without loss, thus winning by ten wickets. A feature of the play was the all round cricket of IHerdman, who in addition to playing a .fine innings of 58 took 7 wickets for -45. Stonewigg’s fielding was of a very (flue order at cover point.
