Mr Thomas A. Edison on Thursday celebrated his eightieth birthday at West Orange, New Jersey. He still works twelve hours daily in his laboratory and is at present conducting more than twenty experiments. Interviewed, he said he “has faith in the'machine-age and man can only become free through the substitution of machinery for his own muscles.” ■
