DISPERSAL SALE.

OF RED POLLS. RECORD PRICE (PAID FOR HEIFER. The dispersal sale of Air A. E. Amlertiou’s 'weM-leno wn •‘••'l'u tiuiiai-'’ red poll stud of cattle was conducted at Taumarunui on 'Wednesday last. Visitors were in attendance from North Auckland, Wanganui, Taranaki and intermediate districts, and a keen sale resulted if or a good proportion of the herd. This was the first dispersal stile of red polls that has been held in the Dominion since Hie unauguraitiou of the Red Poll Association, and a great deal iof interest was evidenced in the outcome throughout the country. The condition of the cattle showed evidence of the, hard country on which they had been reared and the severity of Die winter. Despite the lack of bloom .apparent in the cattle and the wintry conditions prevailing, competition was well sustained throughout, and at times became most spirited. This was particularly so in regard to the incalf heifers, yearling bulls and stud cows, hut in a number of cases the vendor’s reserve was not. reached when the yearling heifers came under the hammer. A Dominion record -price uvas established when Messrs’Wilson Bros., Waimai, Huntley, paid 115 guineas for the 18 -months-old heifer TuLimat Garnett. This beautiful heifer was held to be the -outstanding female in the herd, and was sired by Die A.A. hull Gerlli, -which is linelire d to great imported bulls in Redgrave Rex and Rcudlesham Monk, The -purchasers intend to exhibit this heifer at the coming Royal -Show, The rising four-year-old bull Tutamai Marhara /Reflect, by Marliam Prior (imp.), from a daughter of Redgrave Rex (imp), sold for 75 guineas to Mr B. W. , Harvey, Wavevley. The bulls were competed for very keenly right through, and fourteen head practically -all yearlings, .were disposed of at an average of £3O per head. The young bulls were of excellent type. Other good sales'made were of the yearling heifer, Tutamai Thymic,, also to Messrs Wilson Bros, This heifer was also sired by Berth, and was out of Peggy, a daughter of the fine cow Chocky. .An S-year-old cow by Red Boat 1., made the top .price of 50 guineas for cows, to the bid of the Waverley breeder, Mr Harvey. This cow produced 3411 b butter-fat tin '275 days. The 2-year-old heifers were a great line and sold very readily.
