OBITUARY.

CLARENCE FREDK. ROBERTS. The 'death occurred early on Thursday morning of Mr Clarence Frederick Roberts, at the age of 21 years, at his parents’ residence, Seddon street, Temuka. The deceased was well known and popular, and his end was not unexpected as he had been very ill tor the past nineteen months. He was the only son of Mr and) Mrs F. C. Roberts, and was born In Bristol, England, on July 6, 1905. In 1910 the family went to Canada, and eight years later came to New Zealand, settling at Christchurch and Kaiapol, Deceased completed his primary education at the latter place, gaining his proficiency under Mr R. Malcolm* who was teaching there at that time. He attended the Timaru High School for a couple of terms, and then went to the Temuka High School, when his parents took up their residence here in 1920. After leaving school, deceased was employed In the office of the Kaiapol Woollen Mills for about a year, but was unable to remain in that occupation owing to ill-health. He was a member of the Methodist Bible Class, and took a great interest in the social work of the Church, hoping in time to go in for the Ministry. During his long illness, he devoted his time to literature and wireless, making a threevalve wireless set. Mr F. C. Roberts. is the woodwork instructor for the Temuka and Geraldine DistrictHigh Schools, and the Marist Bros., Main and West Schools in Timaru, and great sympathy is felt for Mr and Mrs Roberts throughout the district. Members of the Methodist Bible Class will act as bearers at the funeral, which takes place this afternoon. MRS JOHN PROUTING. We regret to have’ to announce the sudden death early on Friday morning, of Mrs John Prouting, of Geraldine. The deceased lady, who has lately been under medical treatment, but was not considered dangerously .ill, .passed away quite suddenly just after breakfast, her husband having left for business. She was 60 years of age, and greatly respected in Geraldine, where she was prominent in musical and other circles.

THE INQUEST

An inquest touching the death of Mrs Fronting was held by the trict Coroner, Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., yesterday afternoon. . Evidence was given by deceased’s husband and daughter, and medical evidence by Dr. D. Paterson, who. deposed that he had made a post mortem examination and had found that death was due to sclerosis of the coronary artery following fatty degeneration of the heart. A verdict was given in accordance with the medical evidence.
