THE POLE REACHED
The American airman. Commander R. E. Byrd, started on his North Pole flight from King’s Bay, Spitzbergen, on Monday morning, in fine weather. The expedition arrived at King’s Bay, Spitsbergen, last week. The ship Chautier carried two aeroplanes with which it is intended to fly to the Pole from a base 400 miles away. Commander Byrd returned, after a flight lasting fifteen and a-half hours. He states that he reached the North Pole. ,
