THE POLE REACHED

The American airman. Commander R. E. Byrd, started on his North Pole flight from King’s Bay, Spitzbergen, on Monday morning, in fine weather. The expedition arrived at King’s Bay, Spitsbergen, last week. The ship Chautier carried two aeroplanes with which it is intended to fly to the Pole from a base 400 miles away.
