TIMARU PRESBYTERY.

A meeting of the Tixuaru Presbytery was held on Tuesday last, among those present being the Rons. J. D. Wilson (Moderator), 'C. Macdonald, and A. C. W. Standage, Mr A. C. Anderson (Home Missionary, Orari). A Presbyterial certificate was received from the Rev. R. H. Blair, late of Hampden, who vacated his charge in the Oamaru Presbytery Giving to ill-health, and had settled ip Teinuka. The certificate was received and Mr Blair was admitted into the Presbytery. The Moderator formally welcomed Mr McMaster into the Presbytery, and referred to his training in the Dominion and in America which would no doubt be of value to him. Mr McMaster briefly returned thanks. HOME MISSION REPORTS. ’ Prior to hearing the Home Mission reports, Mr Begg read a letter from the Home Mission Committee stating that Mr R. Scott, Waihao, and Mr J. Anderson would complete their three year term of office in their respective stations in 1923 and asking that the question of their retention for a further term or otherwise, should bq gone into. ORARI-RANGITATA.

Mr Begg read the balance-sheet of the Orari and Raugitata Home Mission Station, which showed total receipts amounting to £285 6s Bd. The year commenced with a debit balance of £34 18s and closed with a credit of £35 5s 7Jd. Mr Macdonald reported that the work of the station was being carried on under Mr Anderson in a very satisfactory manner, and the congregation was doing its best to keep things going. It deserved to be encouraged a‘s much as possible. So far as Mr Anderson’s term of office was concerned, the matter had not yet been considered, but he (Mr Macdonald) would be attending a meeting of the Session of the charge this week, and the matter could then be gone into. He had no doubt Mr Anderson wopld be requested to stay a further term, as he had done good work. Mr Macdonald suggested that an. application should be made for a grant of £4O for the station, which •would give'them a chance to stabilise the finances.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted, as was also the suggestion to apply for the full grant. VISITATION. The Clerk stated that the Presbyterial Visitation Commissions for the month would be: For Temuka Messrs Stinson, Madill, Anderson, and McGregor; and for Chalmers Messrs Standage, Macdonald, Wightman. and Shaw. , “THE OUTLOOK.” Mr Falconer reported on the deliberations of the special committee set up to consider the question of increasing the circulation of “The Outlook." The committee recommended that an endeavour should be made to secure the services of an agent or agents in each charge, whose duty it would bo to secure new subscribers, collect subscriptions, and distribute “The Outlook" each -week throughout their respective districts: further, that the Publicity Committee should be approached as to the advisability of appointing a Dominion canvasser. The Rev. Macdonald suggested improving the appearance of the paper by giving it a good cover, and the Committee s recommendation was adopted.
