DAIRY INSTRUCTORS.
FOR SOUTH ISLAND. Mr T. D. Burnett (member for Temuka) brought under the notice of the Minister of Agriculture the fact that there were five associated dairy companies in South Canterbury that had agreed to contribute £250 to the salary of a dairy instructor, but owing to the need for economy the department had turned the application down. He suggested, however, that the Minister might consider the shifting of two of the 19 instructors in the North Island down to the South Island. It was true that the South Island contributed only 14J per cent, of the dominion's " dairying total, but the fact that there were 19 instructors in the north and none in the south looked like an injustice to the south. i
The Hon. W. Noaworthy said he would take into consideration the suggestion about shifting two of the instructors down to the South Island.
