ADVISED BY AN ANGEL.

RECTOR’S STRANGE STORY.

WIFE’S LIFE SAVED.

An astonishing story of having seen and spoken to an angel is related by the Rev. G. Maurice Elliott, rector of Snitterby Kirten- in Lindsey, Lincolnshire, wires the Daily Chronicle Norwich representative. Both Mr Elliott pvho has written a work on ‘‘Converse with Angels”) and his wife were visiting the city at the invitation of the Rev. R. C. Griffith, and Mr Elliott preached at the two churches of which Mr Griffith is the incumbent. In one of the addresses the rector said-he had a remarkable experience at the lime of a serious illness to his wife. It was a case of making a life or death choice in regard to vvhe'her an operation should be performed. Medical opinion was divided as to the cause of the illness, and also as to 'he necessity of an operation. "My w ife and I,” said Mr Elliott, “prayed to our Father in God that an angel 1 might be sent to tell us distinctly whether an operation was required.

“The angel came to us. We both saw him. lie was bright and shining in appearance, and dressed in white. He spoke to as plainly, and he was in bodily form. He said : ‘ln answer to your prayer, the Lord has sent me to tell you that the specialist who advises an operation is wrong in his diagnosis, and that such operation would be fatal.’

“ I said to this guardian angel, * Will you now lead me to some medical man or surgeon who will prove to me scietifically 'bat you are riglnT The angel replied ‘Yes,’ and told me to take my wile to Brighton. “ The angel said he would meet us at the station. We went to Briglmou, and the angel was our heavenly guide. He led ns to a certain hotel and tqld ns to take rooms there, and said that seated next to us at the table would be a leading Loudon surgeon, and that alter dinner he would go up into the drawing room alone, and that I was to follow him and engage him'in conversation until I extracted the promise from him that he would examine my wife that night. “All this actually happened. The surgeon, who was a Harley Street man, examined my wife that night, and assured me that no operation was needed and everything would come all right, He then said to me: ‘Now, sir, why did you speak to me iu the drawing room?’ “1 replied that I really did not like to tell him because if 1 did I was sure ho would question my sanity. To my amazement he said he did not think he should. “I then told him that! was told to speak to him by a guardian angel. To which he replied: T am • not in the least surprised, because before I left London to come here for a few weeks’ rest by the sea I knelt cown and asked God to lead me to someone to whom ray knowledge and skill could be of real help. “Wo grasped hands and gloried iu the fact that there was such a thing as lively faith.
