‘ ENGLISH PUBLIC SCHOOLS v. PAST CHRIST’S COLLEGE. ' The annual cricket match between the above teams was played at Geraldine on Saturday, additional interest this year being given to the fixutre through the presence in the Public Schools eleven of His ExcelT- lency the Governor-General Lord } Jellicoe. Lady Jellicoe and the Hon. Lucy Jellicoe'were also amongst the spectators. The Christ College XI. proved too strong for their older opponents and won by an innings and 55 rims. Winning the toss the Public School men went first to the wickets, Lord Jellicoe and Dr. P. \V. Hislop being the first pair of batsmen to oppose Harper and Peter, to whom was entrusted the attack. A good start was made. Lord Jellicoe from the start playing lively cricket. He made 24, which included five boundary hits. Three wickets down showed 50 on the board, but the run [•■■ ■ getting slackened off after the dismissal of Hunter-Weston.
