GERALDINE. The annual meeting of the Geraldine St. Patrick’s Sports Association was held on Monday evening at Mr VV. W. Williamson’s rooms, a very - 1 good attendance of members being c present, the President. Dr D. Kennedy) read the forty-third annual report and balance-sheet, which stated, the ( Committee congratulated members' i upon the satisfactory position of the 1 • Association. The membership stood at 14 3, which was very good, but they regretted that the balance-sheet showed a number of subscriptions outstanding. ' The annual sports were held on March 17th, as usual, and were well attended. Entries were satisfactory and competition keen, thus providing for patrons some interesting contests. The usual concert and dance was held in the evening after the sports and' the Committee wished to express their thanks to the ladies and gentlemen who gave their services. On account of the inclement weather the takings were' a good deal less than last year. The total receipts for the v’eav amounted to £2SS IGs lOd, and the year closed with a credit balance of £2B 15s Bd, after paying off debentures amounting to £24. The total assets of the Society were £5 05s Bd. The Committee desired to express their thanks for donations to the following:—Dr. D. Paterson, ' Challenge Cup : J. Mcllroy, J. C. South, J. W. Macdonald, for medals; T. D. Burnett, M.P., K. Mackenzie. ’ Dean Bowers, F. R. Flatmau. 1. Connolly. D. McGregor, A. A. Read- ’ die, for cash donations to (be prize - funds, and therewith tendered their best thanks to all those who assisted ; the Association in any way during the. rear, especially those who acted as officials at the sports meeting. Ir was decided to hold the sports ‘ meeting on Thursday, Kith March, i in view of the weekly holiday falling 1 on that day. and also to avoid clashing with the Christchurch championship sports meeting, which.*will be held on Friday and Saturday. The secretary slated that by tins arrangement they would have runners and cyclists calling at Geraldine while on; their way to Christchurch. Mr G. Coulter offered a sum of 1 £1 towards a mile race: Mr .Morris ■ Williams £2 2s for Hie fastest mile, and Mr A. Harnett £2 2s for the fastest luilf mile, a vote of thanks to | ilieiu being passed by acclamation.
