GERMAN SENSATION.

NOTORIOUS CRIMINALS ARRESTED. _______ i One of the most sensational cases in the history of German crime resulted in the arrest of five women and two men, who were caught with £50,000 worth of stolen goods. The leader is a woman called "Dashing Dora." She has been twice divorced, and recently was married to a youth aged 20. Those arrested include the husband and Dora's sister, Dora's daughter, and Morvilius, a merchant. Morvilius's wife and Louise's husband are also implicated, but have not yet been arrested. Morvilius is a well-known official and is director of the department engaged in the sale of German war material. The gang's booty included a golden coffee set of 32 pieces valued at £ISOO, which they carried off from the shop at a single visit. The women went equipped with leather belts fitted with innumerable hooks, to which they attached the valuables as__they passed through the shops. Finally Dora and her sister fell under the suspicion of a sales' girl in p. luxury shop, but managed to bluff the manager. Next day their husbands flashed 1000-mark notes in .the manager's face and compelled him to give a written apology. The manager later being struck by the youthfulness of the husbands as compared with their wives, telephoned .to the police, who raided their flats, and found piles of china, jewels, and other valuables. Investigations showed that the depredations extended over several years. The thefts totalled £2 50,000. The crimes were made possible owing to the wholesale corruption among the police.
