IN Search of the Ideal Wife.

PREFERABLY FAIR. EDUCATED, NOT TOO FLIGHTY. THE RANCHER’S DREAM. Amusement was caused at the Eastbourne Board of Guardians, England, by the .reading of a letter addressed to the Chairman, Canon Alfred Allen. The writer is a Sussex man, residing in Victoria, British Columbia: Dear Sir, —I have decided to write to ask you whether you are in a position to put mo into communication with a desirable girl between the age of twenty and twenty-five; preferably fair, and one who is domesticated and in a position to take charge of a small house. Good character essential, and not one of the flighty typo. I may say I am on the look-out for a wife to share my woes and pleasures on a ten-acre chicken ranch, and to run the house and a Chinese servant. T do want a girl with a fair education. As for myself, I am twenty-six years of ago, dark, moderate in all things, have an income equivalent to £SOO a year in England, and have been in tin's benighted country for four years, having previously lived in Sussex all my life. My intention is to return to good old Sussex in two or throe years’ time, as Canada is no place for a permanent residence. I shall bo pleased to give the fullest particulars of myself to anyone who may write. Any letters will ho hold sacredly confidential. A guardian suggested that the letter should bo referred to a matrimonial agency, but no action was taken in the matter.
