MEMORIAL TABLET.
AT ST. PETEK'S CHURCH
At the conclusion of, the erufirmation service at >St. Peter’s Ck irch on Friday evening, the vicar, standing in .front of the P.ishop, requested him to -SfiYyil and dedicate a brass tablet in memory of Nicolas Charles . Nicholas, The Bishop then walked to the middle, of the north side of the church, where the tablet had been inserted in Hie wall, and there offered a short prayer. Tie then unveiled and dedicated this ■tablet to Nicolas Charles’ Nicholas, in memory of a courageous act , when ho lost his life in the attempt to save others. “Let this stimulate us lo like deeds ami thoughts for,.others, and lo remember that- Christ gave his life for us all.” . - ■ The tablet is a, handsome brass plate, bearing the following 'iuscfip-. tion : , , This tablet, is .erected Jly his family and a few friends, To the Clorv oft'iotE , And in iincm<»'y of Nicolas Charles 'Nicholas, ; A devoted husband and father, who was born at Brussels, lOlh August, 1816, and met his death by drowning at the 'mouth of the Kangitata "River, while trying to,.save life, on the 21st unitary, - P.lPd.
