RANGITATA ISLAND
A harvest thanksgiving service was held in the Rangitata Island Schoolroom on Sunday evening. The Rev. Wm. Beckett conducted the service, and preachod a very impressive sermon, which was listened to with marked (attention by a largo congregation. The Schoolroom was prettily decorated with evergreens, fruit, and slen\es, and hymns suitable for the occasion were sung. As Mr Beckett _'s shortly leaving for a new charge in North Island, he took the opportunity of bidding farewell to his congregation at the close of the service, the hymn "God be with you till we meet again" being sung with much feeling. Mr Beckett will be -greatly missed by his congregation at Rangitata Tslnnd, among whom he has laboured with unceasing energy for the last three years, and during which time he has won the respect and esteem of all. He will carrv with him their heartiestwishes f.'.r his welfare in his new home. _
