TIMARU PRESBYTERY.

The bHnoathly meeting of the Timam Presbytery, was held at Trinity Church, Timaru, on Tuesday. Present --Eevs. E. Dickie (Moderator), A. B. Todd (clerk), C. McDonald, J. C Chappie, W. J.. Black, A. S. Morrison (ministers), Messrs D. Hcwso", 8. McCully, J. Bowie, AY. Little, R. Allan (elders). Thero were also present Revs. E. G. Guthrio and J. Gellie, and deputations from Pleasant Point and St. Andrews. Apology for absence for Mr Shaw w a s accepted., On the minutes being confirmed Mr Todd mentioned that the second minute- book of the Presbytery, commenced in l'S93, was now filled. The book is of good size land' thickness, and Mr Todd said tho filling of the book showed that the business of the Presbytery had 'been considerable and increasing-. 11, •Mr Morrison was unanimously elected Moderator.

The cleric read the report oni the last Presbytery meeting at Pleasant Point, and tho following resolution which fc.vd been sent to Rev. J. White —"The Presbytery places on record its high eslteem of the lofty Christian character of Mr White, and its appreciation of his sixteen years' o a rnest and fruitful labours at .Pleasant Point, t-ndalso its regret at losing from the PresMytory his wise counsel find devout spirit ; it furtfher prays 'that the great Head, of the Church may bo pleased to gsant to Mr White a further term of useful service in Ids new field, and that the blessing 0 f God may richly sustain and guide him in the time to conie." The ministers of the various churches were appointed supervisors of the Sabbath school examination for I'Ot'h July, Mr Agn (i w, superintendent, t'o act at Pleasant Point. Ministers were reminded that the collection for 'Maori Missions is due Mill July. A long discussion took plafe on/the proposal to divide the Pleasant Point charge. The proposal was to f o rm Totara Willey, Cave, and Cauniwgton into one charge; Pleasant Point and other distr cts into another. Tho question of separating Albury from Fairlie and making a new charge of Albury, Cave, Canning-ton and Ty--1 oho, with Cave as the centre, leaving To tarn Valley with Pleasant, Point was also discussed, and finally Mr Stinson moved that the congregations of Fairlie and Albury be consulted rqgardiug (lit separation of Albury from the Fairlie charge, with a view to forming a new ojvarge of Albury, Cave Canningloii, ami Tyeho, the present committee to continue, and report to a meeting on 2nd duly. The Moderator mnde an explanation regarding the fire insurance! scheme which he bad been commissioned to inquire into. He quoted the position of the Weslcyan insurance fund and explained the methods adopted by the m a '":avcrs of that fund. The W-e-sW-nns had now £ 139,840 w o rlh of property insured, of which £1055 name in yenr. The fire losses for the year were only £3 5/1. and tho profits Were £3OO. which made the 7-eserve £2IOO. Tlie Presbytery was then moved into commit tec, to consider certain delicate matters relating to St. Audreys, and the reporters and not interested were requested to withdraw. Aff,<T a discussion lasting about an hour the Presbytery came out of committee and passed the following reso-lution-''That the Presbytery meet, the congregation of St.Andrews, at St. Andrews, on June 15th at 7.30 p.m."
