Supplies of American chilled beef aic small. Hindquarters are quoted at 3,{d, forequarters 21 d. 'The butter market is linn, ami prices continue to advance. I the prospects oft •tl\e next season’s market are more favorable th u u they were last _ year. There is only a small supply of best quality on hand. Choice New Zealand brands to-day are worth 108/ per cwt. The ’cheese market is steady, -with a very good demand ; white makes Of/, colored 0(1/ per ewt. The hemp market is not quite so firm. Large buyers have withdrawn from the market, and prices have consequently declined. (1.h.A.Q.. Wellington, on spot, is quoted t1 1.f31 111/ per ton. October December shipments X3l per ton. Fair current Wauila, mi spot, is selling at XI3 per ton. The cocksfoot seed market is dull, and buyers not keen to do business. The average price of 171 b bright clean dressed seed is 70/ per cwt. The wool market is quiet, with no alteration in prices.
