CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor.) ' Sir, —In your issue of Tuesday, tho 22nd inst., there appears an anonymous letter, in which my mime is freely and very offensively used. There always has been, and I suppose there always will be, in every community, a diss of persons who stand opposed to everything that is good and noble, pure and true, who eagerly seize upon every little bit cf dirty scandal, and love to cireuiatu it as widely as they possibly can, without the least trouble to ascertain its truth or otherwise. They me in to eujoy repeating it. The dirtinr the better they like it. 'J.'liey revel in it; roll it upon their tongues as a dainty and delicate morsel to their taste. '.' hey lose do possible opportunity of covertly sneeriDg and scothtig at anyone whotiios, in ever so email a measure, to do anything toward the uplifting of mankind, the while they hide their malignity and shield themselves by concealing their identity b-hind a '' uom de plume." For such persons I have httie time, and less courtesy. Let your csrrespondent, if he cares anything for the public weal, come '"out'i'rOuj his lading place,-and have tb* courage to write over his own name, and 1 will answer him. Otherwise i have ii'i further time at his disposal.—Yours faithfully, HARRY" E. VINCENT. Ashburton, Aug. U'l, 11105.
