TEMUKA TECHNICAL CLASSES.

A mooting of the Temuka Technical Classes Association was held in the school last evening. Present—Messrs fl. . Ann it age (chairman), T. Buxton, 11. M les, Thompson, McLeod, E. Cooper, T. Goy, and A. Hintz (superintendent). Correspondence was read and dealt with ns follows Prom Mr F. It. Flat-man, M.H.U., . re the technical school buildings.* He hud spoken to the Premier as to \yhen the hnilding would be started, and ho replied that it rested with the Education Board, who have been informed that the vote of £IOOO had been passed. From Messrs Corbould & Co., re repairs to typewriters. From Board of Education notifying that £IOOO hud been granted for the erection of the Temuka Technical [build ing. ; also letters in connection with grants in aid of rent, payment for tools, tiring and cleaning, etc. A communication) from the -Education Department in lep.y to a letter from the superintendent, stated that technical scholarships cannot now bq held by those in attendance at Dis- ' trict .High Schools. The superintendent explained the purport of the letter, which meant a financial loss to the Association of about £SO, but as the regulation on the subject had been gazetted the managers had no alternative, but to accept the situation. The superintendent’s report of the e* asses was then considered, which showed a credit balance 'of £SS, which is expected to increase to £IOO by the end of the session. The report was adopted. Financial arrangements in regard to teachers’ and superintendent’s salaries ■re then considered. It was resolved I)at the- teachers’ salaries salaries remain unaltered, and that the' salary of the superintendent bo £SO per annum. The plans for the new technical building were then considered and criticised. It was decided to forward them to Wellington, with a few saggestions re lighting and increased ac- \ commodation. The superintendent was instructed to sec Mr Hendrickson, instructor in laundry work, and endeavor to arrange for classes in Temuka. Messrs Cooper and Hintz were appointed u deputation to wait on the Borough Council at its next 'meeting.
