GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

The monthly mooting of the Geraldine Town Board Was held on Wednesday night. Present—Messrs W. S. Masl'in (chairman), ft. Taylor, tJ. Kennedy, J. AL Sutherland, and Dr Hislop. An apology for absence was received from Mr J. Alali*g. HALF HOLIDAY. Before going on with ordinary business a special meeting of xho board was held to fix the usual half holiday when a resolution was. passed making Thursday the day on which the halfholiday .shall he - held. ’ ” . INTERVIEW; ' Air Geo. Barber waited on the board offering to rece vo night soil on to Ids property 'for £1 per annum instead of a supply of lime as hftherto agreed upon. —Accepted for one year. CORRESPONDENCE. The Rev. A. B. Todd wrote on behalf of Airs Thos. Morrison, an invalid, .that she, co'uld not contribute towards the cost of asphalt footpath in Wilsonrstgeqt.—On receipt of half estimated cost from the owners of properties in Wilson street the work do be gone on with. From Air Thomas, ashing permission to erect a cottage in Bridge 'street, also for a; water supply to same,— Permission granted to build; water supply application to stand over till next meeting for board to decide whether to put in a two inch or one, inch pipe. From Alcssra Morrison Bros., that thf'V had sold property on section T’o to Messrs T. and E. Twigg, and asking that alterations be made accordingly.—Granted; WATER SUPPLY. It was reported to the board that a gardener .had- been given a supply of water to 'without application for same. —It Was resolved that the’water supply n question be cut off at once and that the plumber who put the service in be notified that if the same thing happens again his license will be cancelled. LAST MEETING, As this was the last meeting of the board Air Alaslin thanked members for the assistance given him daring his term of office, and commended them for the amicable way in which they had worked together for the Welfare of the town. TIMA.UU WOOL SALES, The wool sale concluded at iimaru cu Thursday, was a record one, over 11,000 bales being catalogued, the average value of the whole would probably be between £l2 and £ie 10k per bale—say £l2 Us so that something like £135,000 woxth of property was passed under the hammer. The whole of the wool submitted did not change hands, though some of the brokers cleared their catalogues. A fair proportion was passed at auction, but will be sold pr vatcly. Wool growers were under the impression that this sale would show a marked advance on the previous one', but this anticipa tion was not realised, so they accordingly x-cduccd their reserves- Seventeen buyers operated during the sale Oamaru, Ashburton, and Wellington woollen factories having tilled their requirements were not represented.
