PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH.

The quarterly meeting of the above Church was held at Geraldine on Thursday. The of the Church assembled m the afternoon to transact the business, the Rev. Mr Clement presiding. The various reports presented were of an encouraging and gratifying nature, and showed the Church to be in a very prosperous condition. The congregations had increased at the various places, and several names were added to the members' roll. Sunday iflernoon services had been established at Pleasant Point during the quarter with encouraging results. The bialanccrsjiect showed a phenomenal increase in the income. There had been, raised for all purposes during the quarter £lls lis Sd, of which sum the Geraldine Church had raised £B3 Us 9d, and Temuka Church £sl Os Id. iThe balance of the income had heen raised by the outlying places. Arrangements were made for holding a month's evangelistic services in the circuit, ,to be conducted by 'Miss Addis, one of the two lady evangelists employed by the Church at present in the colony. Mr Hujffey was thanked for services rendered as circuit steward, and again re-appoint ed to that office. ; The various Church stewards were ' also xe-ap-i pointed. I At 8.30 a public tea was held in the church, and was well attended. The tables were presided over by Mesdames Clement and Kennington, and Misses P. Maslin and Wallace. Mr Huffey took the chair at the after meeting, and short addresses were given by Mr Maslin, and the Revs. Messrs Clement and Ramsbottom. ißecitations by Miss Ina Logan, B. Clement, N. Dyer, L. Votes of thanks were moved by Mr Logan, and seconded by Mr Sutherland, to all who had taken part in the meeting, and to all who had helped to make the work of the past quarter in the church so successful. The meeting was closed by singing the doxology, and pronounc ng the benediction.

At the annual meeting of the Waitaki Licensing Committee renewals of all the licenses in the district were granted. The hour of closing was fixed afi 11 o'clock in Waimate and 10 o'clock in the country. Mr H. Mann applied for a tranaer from himself to Mr John Quinn, of Sbudholme, of the publican's license for the Junction Hotel. The chairman said that this was on unusual kind of application. Mr Mann had just been granted a renewal of his license for this hotel, to commence on the Ist July next, and before this license was in existence applied for its transfer. The prasent license must run to 30th June, and nfter commencement of new license the transfer might be applied for.
