ASHBURTON STOCK SALES.

ASHBURTON, Feb. 24. There was a good entry of sheep at Tinwald, and prices for good conditioned were up to the average. There was a small entry of cattle. The following are the prices realised —Cattle—Store cattle : Springers} £5 10s To £8 7s cattle, heifers £7 to_ £7 7s 6d, cows £4 ss, £6 ss, steers £5 17s 6d, vealer 14s. Fat sheep : crossbred ewes 10s to 13s 3d, lambs lls6d to 13s lOd, freezing ewes 13s 6d, freezing lambs 11s 3d to 13s 9d, stores : crossbred owes 5s to 10s, lambs 5s 9d to 11s 4d, crossbred wethers 5s 7d to 14s Bd. FAIRLIE STOCK SALE. The monthly stock sale at Fairlie on Monday was a '-e-y successful one. There was a large yarding of sheep, about 10,000, the yards and addiabout ten thousand, (he yaids and additional temporary cues being packed. There was u healthy demand r or all sorts, aT nearly every lots changed hands under the hammer at, if anything, an improvement on previous sale prices for equal qualities. This was especially the case with store lambs, Ashburton buyers operating freely for lambs for stubble feed now ready in that country. There was but a small entry of cattle. The following are quotations :—Store lambs 8s 8d to 10s 3d ; three-quarter breds Os to lOs lOd ; fat 12s 3d to 12s 7d ; ewes, 2-tooth, 12s 6d to 15s ; 4,6, and 8-tooth 18s lid, 14s lid ; fullmouthed Gs 3d ; sound-mouthed 13s id ; wethers, 2-tooths, 14s Id ; 4tooths, "ils lOd, 13s id ; 6-tooths, 12s 8d to 14s 4d ; merinos, 2-tooth ewes 7s Id ; full-mouthed ewes, 2s2cl 6-tooth wethers 9s sd.
