London, Deo. 21. Japaneso officers have been engaged to train Chinese soldiers. Japan has offered to send a general to organise the army. Yesterday the Chinese officials at Tongchao made atonement for the massacre of missionaries and converts there in August last year. They attended the funeral of 70 victims, and signed a promise to protect converts. Fifty villages were represented at the ceremony. Lieutenant Hall, with a handful of Punjab Infantry, in pursuing and sur rounding brigands in a house outside Ohuutiangchung, captured four. The Franco Chinese loan has been covered twenty four fold. St. Peteiisbukg, Dec. 20. Colonel Agapejff, lecturing here after residing at Manchuria, said that war with Japan would be dangerous at present, owing to Japan's great naval resources, and her ability to land 150,000 soldiers at the theatre of war within a fortnight.
