Mr Colson, ex-Congress man, a well-known Democrat got into a heated argument with Mr Scott, a prominent Republican, which ended in a resort to revolvers. Colson killed Scott find two bystanders, and wounded two others. AUSTRALIAN CABLE. Sydney, Jan. 16. The crew of the Carrizal wrecked on Baker’s Island has arrived. The Postmaster-General seems favourably disposed towards the Eastern Extension Company’s Cape Cable scheme, and is now considering whether it will interfere with the Pacific cable. Melbourne, Jan. 18 Two Hindoo hawkers have been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a settler’s wife in the Vince Wycheproof district. The body was found in a burning house. It is understood that the McArthur Forrest Cyanide Company are offering the Government their rights in the colony for .£20,000.
