Temuka Cricket Club.
The annual meeting of the Temuka Cricket Club was held in Mr Buxton's office on Wednesday evening. There was a fair attendance of members, and Mr Buxton was voted to the chair.
The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed. The balance-sheet was read. It showed that the year was commenced with a credit balance of 5s lOd, and the receipts were : Donations, £2 2s; subscriptions from members, ,£9 5s ; lion, subscriptions, 15s ; total, £l2 7s lOd. The expenditure was: — advertising, 9s; Sports Association, £lO ; stamps, etc., lis 9d; donation to Cricket Association, 15s ; total, .£ll 17s 9d, leaving a balance on hand of £1 10s Id. The balance-sheet as read was adopted. A lengthy discussion ensued as to probable value of material which the club has on hand, in the course of which it was stated that the club would not require to procure so mnch material as last year. Mr McLeod moved a very hearty vote of thanks to the out-going officers, which was carried with acclamation.
The election of officers were then proceeded with as follows:—Patron, A. E. G. Rhodes, Esq.; president, Mr J. T. M. Hayhurst; vice-presidents, Messrs F. R. Flatman, M.H.R., P. Wareing, H. A. Ewen, and E. Richardson; captain, Mr W. Mendelson; vice-captain, Mr C. Brown ; delegate to Sports Association, Mr E. Brown ; delegate to Cricket Association, Mr Thos. Buxton; secretary, Mr F. J. Heatley; treasurer, Mr Buxton; committee, Messrs E. King, T. Buxton, M. McLeod, and J. A. McCaskill; selection committee, Messrs Mendelson and E. Brown. Several new members were elected.
After a lengthy discussion as to the abilities of the several players, it was decided !o play two teams this coming season, in order to give all the players a chance. It was decided to accept the first fixture for the season, but the secretary was instructed to write to Waiinate, and try to arrange for a change of second fixture. The annual subscription was fixed at 10s fur members over 18 years; 5s for members under 18 years; and 2s (id for school children. It was decided to place on record the club's appreciation of Mr Armitage's services as secretary and treasurer. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr Buxton for the use of his room, and to thejjehairwan, terminated the meeting.
