Novel Entertainment.
The Rev. W. C. Woodward's illustrated entertainment at the Geraldine Oddfellows' Hall on Wednesday night was most successful, and drew a fairly big audience, who greeted every item with loud applause. The programme was exactly similar to one given at Temuka the p evious evening, and already described iu our columns. Mrs Moore and Miss Fish opened the entertainment with a pianoforte duet, played in a briliaut fashion, which elicited loud applause, and then the programme was submitted as nudor :-M rMontgomery, "The Toilers"; Mr E. Logau, " The Little Hero"; Mr Woodward, " The Lifeboat," a reading; Miss Maslin, "The Last Milestone"; Miss Fish, piano solo, "The Brook " ; Mr P. D. Herdmnn, " The Death of Nelson"; Mr Woodward, «■ Billie's Loaves," a reading ; Miss Higgins, " The Soul's Awakening"; Miss Andrews, « The Holy City " ; Mr J. Fye, piano solo ; Misßos Bertha and Elsie Sherratt, piano duot; Mr J. R. Montgomery, " The Village Blacksmith "; Miss MacKeuzie, "Daddy"; Mr B. W. Moore, "She Wore a Wreath of Roses"; Mr Woodward, " Curfew Must Not Ring To-night," a reading ; Miss A. Bowkett, * " The Better Laud"; Miss Audrews, "Anchored " ; Mrs Moore and Miss Fish, piano duet. Mr Woodward manipulated the lantern in a very able manner, and the audience were much struck with the idea of illustrating each musical item with views on tho screen. Mr Woodward's readings were also highly appreciated. The Rev. H. Williams, who presided, thanked the audience for their attendance and the performers for their services, saying that all would agree with him that they had spent a very pleasant evening. Tbe accompaniments were played by Misses Fish and Andrews. A vote of thaiiku was passed to the Rev. Mr Mr Wr.odward, who by way of reply ssid : " I shall be quiie satisfied, friends, as long as you vote Prohibition at the next eJeetiQU."
