The Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association, Limited (per Mr J. Mundell, auctioneer), report on the horse and cattle market at Tattersall's yards on Saturday as follows :—Our entry consisted of 36 horses, 4 cows, farm implements, spring carts, waggons, etc. The attendance was good throughout sale. In horses the major portion of our entry was Bold at prices satisfactory to vendors; the demand for young sound draught Btock coutimeß good, and several buyers were unable to fulfil their repuiremeuts. We quote values as under :—Draughts, young, with trials, £l7 15s, £l9los, £2O to £2l; do light and aged, £7 10s, £B, to £l2; light harness sorts, £l2 to £l6 ; hackneys, £5 15a, £7, to £9 ; ponies, £5 to £7 ; cows in milk, £3 to £4 ; implements, Bpriug carts and waggons sold at satisfactory prices.

CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. A very good business was passing iu both grain and produce ou Saturday, speculators for export being on the look out to supply orders for Australia. Amongst the transactions iu wheat waß the sale of another one thousand Backs of tuscan for Hobart at 3s 3£d f.0.b., and several lines of good mixed milling sorts were taken for local grinding at full quotations. In spite of the number of anxious inquiries for good samples of oats holders are not incliued to sell at the prices offered, arguing that, with the quotations ruling at the Bluff, values must rise still further here. Several very large lines of good oatsheaf chaff are required for export, and while there are plenty of inferior and discolored lots offering, really heavy, bright Bamples are scarce. On Saturday 45a at a distant conntry station was paid for a line £,oing thirty sacks to the ton. Potatoes are offering freely, and prices Bhow no sign of hardening further. Holders of onions are demaudiDg more than buyers care to give. The following are current prices : Wheat —Pearl (prime milling), 3s 3d to 3s 4d; millers' mixed lines, 3s 2d to os 4d; tuscau, 3s 3d to 3s 3jd; hunters, 3s 2d to 3s 3d ; good seconds, 2s 8d to 2s lOd. Oats —Prime milling, 2s to 2s 2d; Bhort feed, 2s Id; duns and danish and good short feed, 2s. Barley—Malting, prime, 3s 6d to 3s 9d. (nominal) ; medium do, 3s 3d to 3s 6d' second quality, 2s 6d to 3a; feed, 2s 3d. Beans —"Well-saved, 2a 3d; ticks, 2a 4d to 2s 6d. Peas —Blue Prussians, 3s 6d to 3a 9d; others, 3s to 3s Id. Flour—Millers quote roller £lO, stone £9 10s, sharps £4, bran £3 10s. Oatmeal—£lo. Oat-sheaf Chaff—47s 6d to 50s at handy country stations. Onions —£6 to £7 10b at country stations. Potatoes Derwents, 35s at country stations. Ryegrass- -Farmers' lotß, 2b to 2s 9d; machine-dressed, to 3a 9d; heavy-weight, 4s. Cocksfoot—2Jd to 3d ; town machinedressed, 4d to 4Jd ; extra, to 4Jd. MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. London, May 7. A Congress of Chambers of Commerce opens oil January Bth. Thirteen Australian delegates will be present. Jacomb Son and Company report that the decline is probably due to purchases in the colony being below London rates, and also to bad trade in America, The imports for the past mouth Bhow an increase of £1,467,442, and exports £1,174,388. Tho weekly returns of the Bank of Lugland, published to-day, show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be £37,GG8,000, aud the proportion of reserve to liabilities 58.48 per cent. Tho Shaw Savill Company have declared a dividend of 5 per cent., and carry forward £2992. At auction 2530 caßes of Kauri gum were oil'ered, of which 821 were sold. Three-quartor scraped brought 92s ; halfscraped, 5Gs. The stock on hand is 883 casos. Lord Durham has sold fourteen collieries, tho output of which is 12,000 tons daily.
