PLEASANT POINT SALE.

At the Pleasant Point sale on Monday there was a good attendance and good entry of stock. About 7000 sheep wore yarded, and though the sale on the whole was a good one, there is no advance to report in prices. Forward turnipers sold up to 11s 7d, medium to 10s 4d, inferior do 7s, fat ewes 8s 3d to 9s 4d; throcquarterbred lambs 4s 6d to 7s 6d, and fat lambs up to 10s. Though the entry of cattle was poor, a nice line of fat cattle sold at £ 7.

WASHDYKB SALE.

At the Washdyke yards on Tuesday the attendance was poor. The entry comprised 2000 sheep. Pat ewes sold up to 9s, do wethers to 10s Cd, breeding owes to 7s 6d, and lambs up to 8s 9d.

CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS,

There was but little wheat offering on Tuesday, but the few lots coming forward were readily taken at quotations Every line of oats on offer has beeu quickly snapped up, and prices show a still further tendency to harden. Some parcels of considerable size changed hands on Tuesday. The parcel referred to on Tuesday morning as likely to change hands has doue so at 2s for short feed and Is 9d for dauish, at Rakaia Several fair Hues of short feed changed hands in town at 2s on Tuesday, but any good samples of milliug sorts are readily taken at from Id to l£d more. One or two parcels of ordinary feed barley were sold at 2s f.0.b., aud peas were readily taken for shipment at 3s Bd, f.o.b. In spite of the fact that cables from Sydney report that potatoes have eased off to 60s there, this tuber shows no sign of weakness here. This is probably owing to the impression prevailing here that the Sydney market is oily glutted for the present, and prices may again rise there when supplies now to hand are worked off. The following are current prices : Wheat—Pearl (prime milling), 3s 3d to 3s 4d ; millers’ mixed lines, 3s 2d to 3s 4d; tuacan, 3s 3d to 3s 3Jd; hunters, 3s 2d to 3s 3d ; good seconds, 2a 8d to 2s lOd. Oats—Prime milling, 2s to 2s 2d; short teed, Is lOd to 2s; duns aud danish, Is 9d to Is lOd. Barley—Malting, prime, 3s Gd to 4s; medium do, 3s 3d to 3s Gd ; secoud quality, 2s 6d to 3s; feed, 2s 3d. Beans—Well-saved, 2s 3d; ticks, 2s 4d to 2s 6d. Peas—Blue Prussians, 3s 6d to 3s 9d; white, 3s to 3s Id. Flour—Millers quote roller £lO, stone £9 10s, sharps £4, bran £3 10a. Oatmeal—£lo. Oat-sheaf Chaff—47s 6d at country stations. Onions—£7 10s at country stations. Potatoes—Dor wonts, 32s 6d to 35s at country stations. Ryegrass- -Farmers’ lots, 2s to 2s 9d; machine-dressed, to 3s 9d ; heavy-weight, 4s. Cocksfoot—2Jd to 31d ; town machinedressed, 4d to 4jd ; extra, to 4Jd. Cheese —3Jd to 4d ; loaf, 4d to 4.(d. MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. London, May 3. At the wool sales a good selection was offered, but prices wore irregular and there wore many withdrawals. The total quantity catalogued up to date is GO,GOO bales, of which 52,800 were sold. At yesterday’s sales 1300 casks of tallow were offered and 475 sold. Fine mutton brought 21s 3d, medium 20s, tine beef, 19s, medium 18s (id. The stock now consists of 57,459 casks. May 4. The Waitekauri shares have been allotted. Tenders for the Western Australian loan of £750,000 at 3 per cent,, with a minimum of 9G, were opened to-day. The total amount of the tenders was £3,298,200. Syndicates tendered for £1,950,000. Those at £IOO Us receive 8 per cent. The average for the loan was £IOO IGs Bd. There was good competion at the wool sales,and prices are unchanged. May 5. The Bradford market is quiet, and little business is doing.
