THE DEAN CASE.

Sydney, Oct. 25. Dean has been found guilty of perjury. He stated that he had no recollection of having made a confession, and that his original statement of never having bandied poison was absolutely true. Whatever he did say in the alleged confession, was the result of bis being completely broken down, and he was dazed and stupefied. He added that he might also have made it out of a spirit of vengeance against Meagher. The Judge offered the prisoner the chance of going into the witness-box, but he declined. Dean was found guilty on the second charge of perjury, in swearing that he had never purchased poison. His counsel raised the plea that he had been granted a Royal pardon which included the charge.. The contention was over-ruled-. !Dean made denials similar to yesterday. He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment on the first charge and to fourteen years on the second charge, the sentences to be concurrent. Prisoner was cool and collected, and said “ Thank you, your Honor,” when the Judge passed sentence. The conspiracy trials have been adjourned until Tuesday.
