Sydney, Oct. 23. The Cardiff miners have been notified of a reduction of 4d per ton, which is accepted as another indication of a general reduction. With a view to a general strike efforts are being made to reorganise the Miners’ Association. It is understood that at the last meeting of delegates it was unanimously agreed that a general stoppage of work is necessary, to stop the grinding-down process. Mbwcastle, Oct. 24. In view of a probable strike the Walkend Lodge decided to rejoin the Miners Association. There is intense and widespread distress in the district. There is a concerted movement among the miners to obtain Government assistance to proceed to goldfields and elsewhere in search of work.
