The services in the above Church on Sunday celebrated the Sabbath School anniversary. The Rev. Mr Waddell, M.A., of Dunediu, preached at all services. Tho congregation in the morning was not so large as usual, tho attendance being marred by the inclemency of the weather. The Rev. Mr Waddell took for his text in the morning, Judges xiv, 5 and 6. "Then went Samson down, and his father, and'his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath, and behold a young lion roared against him, and the spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hands." Tho rev. geutlemau dealt at the early stages of his address with a few incidents in tho life of Samson, afterwards applying his text to the Sabbath School. Ho depicted the various lions in the ways of children growing up Christians, and the weapou wherewith they could bo overcome, ending witli an oarnest appeal t ■■■> those prcseut to help on the good work of the Sabbath School, which was far from beiug perfect.
