TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Temuka District High School was held last evening. Present —Mr Russe 1 (chairman), Messrs Leveus, Bennett, Hooper, J. W. Miles, and Davey. Mr Taylor sent an apology for liou-at-teudance. Correspondence was read as follows: From Mr T. B. Stroug, applying for one week's leave of abseuco to attend College in Christchurch. —Mr Levens tnovod, aud Mr Miles seconded —"That iho necessary leave be granted to Mr Strong." The head-master's report was read as follows :—District High School, Temuka, 21st October, 1805.—Sir,—I have the hmor to report that the atteudauce continues excellent. With a roll number of '650, the average attendance last week was 335. Since the beginning of August quite 93 out of every 100 children whoso names are ou the roll have been in regular attendance. This result is not obtained without effort, as it is only by extreme vigilance and lirmues3 that a number of children are kept regular. I enclose an application for leave of abseuco, for one week, to attend college examinations from Mr Strong, and recommend that it bo granced. 1 shall make the necessary arrangements to continue the work of his class during his absence. —I have, etc., D.
