THE MIDLAND RAILWAY.

London, Jan. 9. At a meeting of the New Zealand Midland Railway Company the chairmar strongly denounced the New Zealand Government, whose treatment of the company he characterised as outrageous. Sir R. Bruce Burnside was appointed arbitrator on behalf of company. The chairman said that the Government had sacrificed the company to political exigency, and had induced a deadlock. Sir Titus Salt told the sharholders that the Government practically prevented the sale of the company’s land in small allotments near the line and delayed its construction. The chairman leaves for New Zealand on Friday to give evidence. The Financial News condemns the treatment of the New Zealand Midland Railway Company. Dalston, accountant in the colony for the New Zealand Midland Railway Company, has arrived at Wellington for the purpose of formally serving on the Governor a notice of the company’s intention to demand arbitration under the provisions of their contract.
