TEMUKA ATHLETIC CLUB.

The annual general meeting of members of the above club was held at the Wallingford Hotel, Temnka, last night. There was a good attendance of members. Mr D. Henry, president of the club, occupied the chair, and called upon the secretary, Mr A. S. Jenkins, to read the balancesheet. This showed that the total receipts were £125 10s, and the expenditure £ll6 17s, leaving a credit balance of £8 13s. The following are the principal items —Receipts: Members, £ls 10s; donations, £7l7s; subscriptions, £7l7s 6d; privileges, £9 7 s 3d; entry money, £23 4s; gate receipts, £3B 2s 3d; proceeds of ball, £6 10s. Expenditure: Prize money, £7O 8s; scouts, etc., £3 14s; baud, £5 ; advertising, £7 Is 9d; and sundry incidental expenses made up the balance. The chairman congratulated members upon the satisfactory condition of the club. Mr A. Clinch moved, and Mr Phillips seconded —“ That the balance-sheet be adopted as read.’ 5 Carried unanimously. THANKS. Mr P. McCaskill moved a very cordial vote of thanks to the retiring officers. He eulogised their, services, especially those of the secretary, and considered that, for a newly-formod club, the years’ operations had been carried oat most successfully. The motion was carried by acclamation. The chairman then intimated that the next business would be the election of officers and left the chair, which was temporarily occupied by the secretary. On the motion of Mr McCaskill, Mr D. Henry was unanimously re-elected president of the club. In accepting the position, he said that be had intended to have asked members to allow him to take a more subordinate position. As, however, the members seemed so kindly unanimous, he could only accede to their wishes He thanked them cordially for their confidence. The following directors were then elected by ballot: —Messrs M . Scannell, T. Guunion, D. McCaskill, J. A. McCaskill, J. Bori, G. Phillips, A. Bissett, A. Clinch, E. Carr, J. Maze, and H. Rotbwell. From the above Messrs Scannell and Rothwell were elected vice-presidents. Mr Scannell, as an old vice-president, returned thanks for the honor. The chairman regretted to state that Mr A. S. Jenkins, the secretary, was about to leave the district, a matter which they would all regret. It would, therefore, be necessary to elect a secretary in his place. On the motion of Mr A. Clinch, seconded by Mr Morton, —“Mr D. McCaskill was elected secretary, and Mr M. Scannell treasurer.” Mr Jenkins thanked members for the courtesy they -had shown him. It had been a somewhat uphill game, but he believed there was a good future for the society, and he considered in electing Mr McCaskill to the position they had done the right thing. He wished the society every success. Members expressed their regret that they were to lose Mr Jenkins’s services, » and wished him all good fortune in his new sphere of action. This concluded the general business. The committee then met for a few minutes to discuss some minor business, amongst which it was agreed to fix the rate of subscription at the same rate as last year, viz., ss. The meeting then terminated.
