The McCarthyites are appealing for money by cable to their friends in Australia.
The following is the result of the South Meath election :—Mr Jordan (McCarthyite) 2707; Mr Dalton (Parnellite) 2638. • Non-sectarian unionists' clubs are being formed in the southern parts of Ireland. In tha House of Commons Sir'Edward Grey, Parliamentary Under-Secretary to the Foreign Office, in reply to a question stated that the Imperial Government had received no notification from America of the annexation of Hawaii. The Midlothian Liberals have demanded autonomy for Scotland, and are objecting to the retention of Irish members at Westminster.
The I i'iah in Chicago are responding to Mr Ju;>:iu McCarthy's appeal for monetary assistance.
The convention in Mid-Tipperary have selected Mr Hogan, late of Melbourne, as tii'sir candidate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr John McCarthy. The Radicals demand that the Payment of Members Bill shall provide for an honorarium of £3OO per annum, irrespective of private income,
