Mr Walter Dignan, solicitoi’, and a son of the Hon, P. Dignan. M.L.C., Auckland, was foixnd at ten on Friday morning in his bath moaning. He has been using a mouth-wash with carbolic acid in it of late, and he said that he had taken some of his mouth-wash. Medical aid was obtained, but he died in an hour. A bottle was found with carbolic acid, used for mouth-wash, under medical prescription ; also,; n bottle of Dent’s phenolen. Harry Noble, of Fielding, cut his throat in a water closet at Ilalcomhe on Friday morning. He Is likely to recover.

The life of the late Mr Gibson Turton, who was found dead in a gutter at Wellington, was insured in j the Australian Mutual Society for ; £I6OO, and the accrued bonuses amount to £1264 14s. At the inquest on Mr Turton a verdict of death from natural j causes was found. The medical testi- : inony showed .the primary cause of

death to be inflammation and disease of the heart.

While,Mr Yjncent Fyke was mounting his, hotel' !steps in Dunedin last Thursday night he tripped and fell, receiving rather severe injuries about the head and face.' He was carried into the hotel and a doctor was soon in ; attendance. He is progressing favorably.

Joseph Walters', a painter employed at the Five Rivers Estate, mentioned to the men living in the hut with him that he had struck his head against a projection while rising from the bunk. Shortly after he fell into;'a comatose state and died before the doctor arrived from Lurasden.
