Iho saving effected in the Stock Department will be £2500 per annum Ten inspectors and one clerk are to be dispensed with The Land and Survey Departments are to be amalgamated, and Mr Ellwfct, Under Seceetary of Lands and Min s is to be Undersecretary of Mine- only. Thirty-three officers ot the Lands Department throughout the colony are to be retrenched, and twelve others transferred. The saving in the Lands and Survey Departments will be £6500 per annum. The compensation to be paid in the Land, Stock and Survey Departments amounts to £4500. The Stock districts are to be enlarged Twelve officers of the urowa Lands and Survey Departments are to be transferred, including the following five chief inspectors:—Messrt Humphreys, Auckland ; Marchant, Wellington ; Baker, Christchurch; Mueller, Westland; Spence, Invercargill. Their destinations are not yet decided upon. The services of five Native Land Court Judges are to be dispensed with. It is calculated that the total savings effected by retrenchment by the present Gavernmeut so far amounts to £50,000 per annum.
