Owing to the heavy downfall of rain the rivers hare swelled and a freßh is running out of the Waitara river too strong for the Gairlook to steam against, so she oame on the breakwater. The lowlands on the banks of the Waiwakao are flooded and the Chinamaa's garden was washed away and his horse drowned.
