The Raukapuka Estate A great deal of interest is being evinced just now in the report that h«s been circulating for some time past that the owner of the Raukapuka estate intends to put it into the market. As is well known, this estate, which comprises some 5200 acres, freehold, contains some of the finest land in the Geraldine district. Should it be cut up into small farms (here is little doubt but that there would be quite a rush of genuine settlers to purchase them. The settlement of this estate by small farmers would have the effect of making Gerald ne one of the most thriving and go-a-head country towns in the colony. Temuka Caledonian Society,— The efforts of the above society in the direction of providing amusement for its members during the winter months have been very successful and doubtless appreciated. They propose now to conclude the season with a grand ball at which fancy dresses will be a'lowed, and in fact preferred. This should give the young fo'ks arap'e scope, and a brilliant display may be expected. It is intended to decorate the large Drill Shed in a more artistic than usual, and also to endeavour to make it more comfortable. The Volunteer Hall with its adjoining rooms have been secured, and there will be a supper on an extensive scale. In fact an unusual effort is to be made, and success may be considered assured.
