THE TIMARU ELECTION.
TO SHE EDITOR,
Sib,—As I have not the slightest doubt that you will be elected as the Timaru member at the approaching election I should be .glad to know in that case whether as member you will be entitled to the whole honorarium, and if so Considering that your stay in Wellingtsn will be very short, will you give the major part of your honorarium to public charities,—l am, etc., F. W. Bad ham. Bulmer.
[lf Mr Badham undertakes to pay all the electioneering expenses, the individual he refers to will undertake to hand him over all the honorarium be may receive. Whoever may be elected for Timaru will be paid only for the number of days he may sit in Parliament. If Parliament rises before the election takes place, the elected candidate will not get even a free ride on the railways, as the passes will be cancelled as soon as Parliament is dissolved. There is, therefore, no fortune in it, Mr Badham. Still public charities owe you a debt of gratitude for the interest you have evinced in their well-being.— Ed.]
