At the Addington Yards on Wednesday entries in most cases were large, and prices were dull.

Fat Cattle—The entry was made up of a large number of second-rate beasts, and last week's rates were not improved upon. For best beef the demand was a trifle keener, 14s to 17s per 1001 b being obtained, but inferior showed no alteration, 12s 6d to 13s 6d l»eing the best price obtained. Store Cattle—One and a half yearolds 345, and two and a-half to three-year-olds at 59s to £3 6s 6d. Other sorts were again without inquiry, and beyond the one line very little business waß done.

Fat Sheep—A great improvement was noticeable on last week's entry, both in number and quality. There was very little competition, except for freezers and good butchers' sheep, second rate sheep being extremely hard to quit. Competition amongst freezer buyers was keen for several lines of the best sheep, notably a line of crossbred wethers which realised from 15s to 16s a head, while several other lines made up to 15s 6d. This caused an improvement in values for the best sheep, but little alteration was noticoable in the price of inferior sorts. Inferior went as low as 4s 9d. The price given for the beat wether mutton was 2£d per lb., while inferior sorts suffered a fall of fully £d per lb. on the quotation of the week before last, leaving values at from lid to lf-d. Among the sales made were :—For the Orari estate, 118 crossbred ewes at 10s 9d to lis lid.

Fat Lambs—A large entry, including several lines of prime lambs. A line, of magnificent lambs made up to 13s sd, while several other pens made from 12s to 12s 6d.

Pigs—There was again only a small ■ entry of porkers and light baconera, the former of which sold freely at from 4d to according to feeding. The demand for bacon piga was very small indeed, DUNBDINf PRODUCE MARKUPS. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday:— Wheat—The past week has been quite as quiet as the preceding one. Inquiries are small, and then only for extra prime small parcels at reduced rates. Quotations :—Prime milling tuscan 2s lOd to 3s; best red straw and velvet, 2s 8d to 2s lOd; medium to good, nominal, 2s Sd to 2s 6d } inferior to medium, 2s to 2s 5d {ex store). Oats—The market for these is exceedingly flat, going from bad t u worse, and prices daily becoming weaker. The purchases now being made are mostly for local consumption. At public auction this week several lots were disposed of, small retail parcels reaching up to Is 6d ; while ordinary parcels of good feed to prime milling ranged from Is 3|d to Is 5d (sacks extra, ex store). Barley—There was no demand whatever at auction this week for eeveral pareels offered ; quotations nominal. Grass Seed—ByegraßS, 2s 6d to 3s Gd ; cocksfoot, 2£d to 3^d. Potatoes—Kindneys, glutted. £2 15s to £3. Pigs—3sd ; hams, 8d ; flitches and rolls, 6d. Chaff—Good oaten sheaf, £2 15a to £3 10s. Straw—(Oaten and wheaten, hydraulic pressed in bales), 355. Clover and ryegrass hay, £3 ss. Butter—Best salt, 6d". Eggs—Scarce. Honey—4|d. Cheese—Factory, old, new, DUNEDIN STOCK MARKED. At the Burnside Tarda on Wednesday the following business waß transacted ; Fat Cattle—l9B head were yarded, principally light weight cattle, only a pens beiai? heavy weights. Prices for best quality were about 10s a head better thau last week, bat medium showed no improvement. Best bullocks sold from £7 to £7 10s; medium, £6 to £6 10s ; light weights, £8 to £5 10s. Fab Sheep—247s were penned, 345 being merinos, balance erossbredß. Medium quality sold at about last week's quotations, but there being no demand for export prime wether mutton suffered a further decline. Best wethers sold from lis 6d to 12s, one pen extra prime realising 12s Gd ; ordiaary, 8a 6d to 10s Gd ; ewes, to 9a 10s; inferior, 6s to 7s Gd; me'rinos, 5s to Bs. Fat Lambs . were in full supply, 1051 being penned, most of which were good quality. Prime sold at from 8s to 9s 3d, medium 5a to 7s Gd. Fat Pigs—4B penned, for which there was good competition. Baconera sold from 35s to 45a ; stores, 15s to 25s ; suckers, 8s to 10s. AUSTRALIAN" MARKETS. Sydney, Feb. 5, Chiek wheat, 2s 8d to 2s lOd, milling sorts, 8s 5d to 3s 7d. Oats, feeding sorts, 2s to 2s 2d; milling Borts,2s3d. Maize, JSqw Zealand grown, 8s 3d. Barley, Cape, 2s Gd to 2s 8d ; English, 4s Gd, nominal. Bran, 7£d. Pollard, Bd. Peas, Prussian Blues, 4a 9d, nominal. Potatoes, £3 to £3 10s per ton. Onions, £4 10s to £5. Butter, dairy made, 6d to 8d ; factory, 8d to 9d. Cheese, local, 4d to 6d. At the wool sales 2489 bales were offered, 2000 bales being sold. Bidding was brisk notwithstanding the unsatisfactory reports from London, and prices were about equal to last week's sale. Inferior to good greasy 7id to 7£d, washed 12fd to 14f d, low to good average scoured 15d to 18fd. Melbotjbne, Feb. 5.

There is a strong demand for this season's wheat, 3a 7d being offered without any sellers. Old crop is quoted at 8s 9d. Flour, new crop, stone made, £8 per ton ; roller made, £8 15s, with upward inclination. Old crop flour is quoted at 10s higher. The wool market is depressed aud inactive ; crossbreds are firm at November rates, merinos are 5 to 7& per I cent, lower. A quantity has been sold below Australian prices, ; Feb. 5. The wool market is unchanged, but there is a more lively spirit. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,100,000 quarters. The American visible supply is estimated at 32,500,000 bushels Bank of New Zealand shares are quoted at £B.
