Revenue Returns. The approximate revenue returns for the last quarter sho« : —Receipts, including tvdnnce at the beginning of quarter and £305.000 worth of deficiency bilL, £1,762,600. The expenditure was—Permanent, appropriation: about £793.000; annual appropriations £4:70,000. The balance is mule up ( f cash in public account £302,000. £193,000 of advances. The profir. on railways foi the quarter was about £BI,OOO. Customs returned net, £356,000 ; stamps, £335,000; property tax, £206,000. On land fund account there was a loos of £42,000, the sales having only amounted to £II,OOO. On public works the actual expenditure during the quarter was just oyer £IOO,OOO, There is now £1,517,000 to the credit of the public works fund, this sum being made up of cash £268,890 ; advances, £452,458 ; investments, £896,300.
