Rev. J. S. Hill, an old Auckland Anglican clergyman is about to leave for England. A Journeyman Bakers Union has been formed in Auckland, and will be affiliated to the Trades and Labor Council. Father O’Sullivan, of St. Benedict’s, Auckland, who is leaving on a visit to Ireland has been presented with a purse of sovereigns. Twelve fresh settlers have been landed on the Kermadecs. Chief Detective Brown, of Auckland, has been retired on a pension. A. six-roomed cottage, owned bv Wrigley and occupied by Houston, was destroyed by fire at Auckland on Monday Insurances £295.

At Ashburton on Saturday evening Mr Thos. Arthur, who has been stationed there for seven years, and lately promoted to Dunedin, was presented by his fellow railway employes at Ashburton with a handsome marble timepiece.
