a uotionjskaa report. TIMARU. Mr E. R. Guinness (for the Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reporls for the week ending Saturday, December 14th, as follows Washdyke Yards —Large entries, especially cattle, have been received at these yards since the fees for unsold stock have been done away with. We would remind buyers that the entries of both sheep and cattle will now, without doubt, increase, and it would be to their interest to attend these sales regularly. Fat Cattle: The market is well supplied, and no improvement m prices can be quoted; in fact, beef has a downward tendency, and is not bringing more than 17s per 1001 b for prime quality, and 15s to 16s for medium. Stores: 1 here have been plenty of good stores and heifers in the market, but with very few exchanges. Prices and demand show a considerable weakness, and values are very much in favor of buyers. Sheep: Only limited numbers of fat have been brought forward during the last few weeks, these being principally old crossbred ewes. The few prime lots offering fit for export meet with ready sale at equal to 2d per lb. Stores: Small entries have as yet come forward. There are lots of buyers who cannot make up their minds what prices to give for 2 and 4 tooth crossbreds. The general opinion is that this class of stock will be lower, We, however, are not of that opinion, and tlr'nk, on the face of the promising turnip crops, and the requirements for the south, stores will rise,

Privately we have disposed of all on hand, some 1578, at very satisfactory figures, as under : Best quality merino and halfbred, per lb ; second, 7^d; crossbreds, 6fd to 7d ; butchers’ best skins, 7s 6d to 8s; second, 6s to 7s; factory pelts, Is each; butchers’, 6d to Bd. Hides —The market remains dull, and prices remain at late quotations. Pat—We have disposed of rough, medium quality, at 10s 6d to 12s 6d, and best up to 15s per cwt.
