He said that the finances of the colony were now more prosperous than they had been for many years. The accounts for the financial year showed a surplus of £52,000. It was the intention of Government to reduce the deficiency to £1,873,000, The surplus for the ensuing year was estimated at £117,000, the revenue for the same period being estimated at close on nine millions.
