CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS. : At the Addington Yards on Wednesday the entries in every department were small, and as the attendance was likewise, prices were rather low. Fat Cattle—There was a full entry of this class of cattle, the larger portion being of inferior quality. A. decline in values was noticeable. Best beef made from 17s 6 d to 20s 6d per 1001 b, and inferior from 16s to 17s, as per quality. Fat Sheep—An unusually small entry yarded, consisting to a largo extent of handy weight butcher’s sheep. The demand for these and inferior sorts was good, while for prime sorts competition was animated, and last week’s rates were in most cases improved upon. Prime mutton made from 2d to 2£d per lb, and inferior from to l|d. Fat Lambs—The number of lambs yarded was altogether in excess of the demand. Prime sorts changed hands at prices nearly equal to late rates, but inferior sorts were subject to a severe decline in value. Prices ranged from 5s 6d to 10s 6d for a very prime lot of 6: Pigs—The entry was small and late values were unaltered, DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday:— Wheat—The tone of the market shows no improvement, and while prices at Home continue at their present level we can hardly expect any alteration in the position of this market. For export the market could hardly be less active. We quote for the small parcels disposed of, which are exceedingly limited, as follows: Prime tuscan, 3s 5d to 3s 6d; best red straw and velvet, 3s Id to 3s 3d, medium 2s 9d to 3s; inferior to best fowls' wheat, 2s 3d t» 2« 8d (ex store.) Oats—The demand seems to be gradually weakening, and, except at a reduction on last week’s quotations, it is hardly possible to effect sales. We quote from Monday’s sales —for stout bright milling, Is 9d to Is 9^d; short bright feed, Is 8d to Is to good, Is 7d to Is 7f d; musty and inferior to medium, Is 2d to Is 6|d (ex store, sacks extra.) Barley—There is hardly any business done in this, although extra prime samples of malting could be placed in limited quantities ; but there is none such offering. Milling has scant attention, and feed has no demand whatever. Prime malting, 3s to 3s 3d; medium, (nominal), 2s 6d to 2s 9d; feed and milling, 2s to 2s 6d (sacks extra, ex store,) Grass Seeds —Ryegrass 2s to ds 6d 5 cocksfoot, 2d to 3^d.

Potatoes The demand for old derwents has completely collapsed; prices ruling for these at auction this week ranged from 25s to 455. A considerable quantity of new kidneys have been in the market lately from the North Island, which have been selling at £4 10s to £5. Local grown are worth £l2 10s to £l3 per ton in limited quantities. Pigs—Well fed, 4d ; hams, 9d; flitches and rolls, 6d. Chaff—£2 10s to £3 ss; straw, oaten and wheaten (hydraulic pressed in bales), 40s to 355. Butter—Salt, new season, 6d for best.

Honey—4£d to 4id. Cheese—Akaroa, 3d to 4d ; factory, 4£d to sd. Sheepskins—On Tuesday butchers’ green crossbreds (best) broxight 6s 9d to 6s, good to medium and inferior, 5s 9d to 4s lOd; green merinos, 5s 6d to 4s 6d ; green lambskins, Is 2d, to lid; green pelts, Is to 7d; country dry crossbreds, inferior to medium, Is 2d to 3s lid ; do do merino, Is 3d to 4s; medium to full-woolled crossbreds, 4s to 6a lid; do do merino, 4s Id to 6s 7d; dry pelts, 4d to 13d. Hides—Quotations are for extra heavy picked 2£d to 3d ; heavy, to 2|d ; medium, 2id to 2fd ; light, 2d to 2|d; inferior, l£d to l|-d per lb. Tallow For prime rendered mutton, 19s to 20a; medium to good, 16s to 18s; inferior and mixed, 12s 6d to 15s; rough fat—best mutton caul, 13s to 13s 6d ; inferior to medium and good, 9s to 12s 6d per cwt, AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Nov. 27. Wheat—Chick feed, 2s lOd to 3s; New Zealand milling, 3s 7d to 3s 10d; Adelaide, nominal. Flour—New Zealand, stone made, £9 10a to £9 15s. Oats —Feeding, 2s to 2s 3d; maiae, 3s to 3s 2d; barley, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; bran, Bd, market dull; pollard, Bd, Potatoes—New Zealand are quoted any price from 5s to 50s. Circular heads, £4. Onions, local grown £l2. Butter, Now Zealand made 3d to 4d, local dairy made 5d to 6d, factory made 7d to 9d. Cheese, local manufacture 5d to 6d, New Zealand manufacture 6d to Ojd. Bacon, local cured 7d to New Zealand cured 9d to 9|d; haras, New Zealand cured lid to Is. Mblbotjene, Nov. 27. Wheat, nominally, 4s lOd to 4s lid; flour, stone made, £11; roller made, from £ll 10s upwards; oats weak, stout sorts 3s 6d; maize, 3s 9|d ; barley, feeding, 3s ; bran 7d. Sugar— Queensland, yellows, £22 10s; greyish whites, £23 10s ; whites, £24 10s.

Nov. 28. At the wool sales to-day the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company offered 6426 bales, of which 5000 were sold. There was a large attendance and the competition was animated. Late rates were fully maintained. No further advice has been received of the rise recently reported from London, which already has been fully discounted. The highest prices obtained were as follows Greasy merino, Is l^d; greasy lambs, Is o£d; greasy pieces, is; greasy crossbreds, crossbreds, Is B£d ; pieces, Is 7£d. Adelaide, Not. 27. Wheat, new crop, 3s 3d; flour, stone made, £lO sa; roller made, £ll 5s to £ll 10s. General lines are dull. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Nov. 26. At the wool sales to-day 6500 bales were catalogued, five-sixths being Australian wool. The room was crowded, and there was keen competition. The prices realised generally were from five to ten per cent, above the closing rates of October sales. Good merino coarse crossbreds were firmest. For Australian flour there is a fair demand at 27s to 27s 6d. Prime New Zealand mutton 4|d per lb. Tin, £96 10s per ton. Nov. 27. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,708,000 quarters, and for the Continent 444,000 quarters. The American visible supply of wheat is 30,175,000 bushels. Australian copper is quoted at £SO. At the wool sales the opening prices were fully maintained, and in some instances exceeded. There was an exciting competition, foreign buyers taking the bulk of the new clip. The New Zealand Loan and Mercanlila Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from London, dated November 26tb, 1889: Wool—The sales opened at an average advance of per cent, on last sales closing rates. The attendance of both Home and foreign buyers is good and competition active. The total quantity available, including wool held over from last series, is 163,000, 12,000 bales of which have been forwarded to the manufacturing districts direct.
