THE LABOR DISPUTES.

London, Nov. 14. The General Steam Navigation Company has conceded the payment to the men during meal-times, and in consequence of their action it is believed the movement generally will succeed. The bakers are conceding the demands of the men for a reduction of the hours of labor, The South Metropolitan Gas Company have decided to share their profits with their employee. The men who went out on strike will also receive a share of the profits. It is thought probable that the recent vote of £IOOO, which was made by the strike executive to the Broken Hill miners who went out on strike, will be rescinded, and other strikers subsidised. The dockers’ surplus is dwindling. The Tilbury foreman aud clerks have refused to join the labor union on the ground that to do so would be contrary to their agreement with their employers, and cause the forfeiture of their pensions. Many of the laborers were opposed to the strike which was organised in order to compel the foremen and clerks to join the anion. Nov. 15, The strike committee hove voted £2BOO to the Dock Labourers’ Union, The bus-men have resolved to strike on Monday unless the proprietors agree to their demand for twelVfe hours as a day’s work, The financial committee of the strikers have now closed the accounts, and the credit side shows that the Australian colonies contributed £30,800. The English Trades Unions contributed only £4OOO. On Wednesday the committee met to decide as to the disposal of the surplus, but their action is subject to the approval of the donors, Nov. 16. The General Steam Navigation Company have suspended the Boulogne trade owing the action of the men. The Dockers’ Union is gradually gaining strength, and now numbers 30,000. Christchurch, Nov. 15. A meeting of the directors of the Kaiapoi Woollen Factory was held today, at which it was decided to close the factory until the log in preparation by (he union is submitted and considered by the board.
