A meeting of policy-holders in the British and Colonial. Property Assurance Company was held at Wellington on Friday night, when information was given by the manager of the Phoenix Company as to the repudiation of claims, and much indignation was expressed that respectable men like those whose names appeared on the Australian directorate lent themselves to such an affair. It was stated that the Wellington agent had received instructions to reinsure all risks he had taken, and on applying for funds for the purpose he was unable to get them.
