Captain Wright, of’ the Timaru contingent, is in charge, arid Captain Coleman is instructor.’ Tbmuka Debating above society brought their session to b "close last Friday eyening with a social, at which a very large number of people were present, The hall was crowded, and a most enjoyable evening was spent in playing draughts, ohess, and indoor games. Refreshments were haaded round at 9.30 o’clock and were partaken of, and on the whole it was one of the pleasantest evenings we have spent in Temuka. Shortly after 10 o’clock the Rev. Mr Dickson, president of the society, briefly referred to the past session, and said the time was pleasantly and profitably spent. He hoped that next year they would again got up the eooioty, and he looked'forward with pleasure to the time for its reopening. Shortly afterwards the pro? ceediugs came to a close, and all left for their respective homes. I
