ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Sept. 29. The English wheat market has an upward tendency. The Continental is advancing and the American is also ehanging for the better, Tallow, medium mutton, 24s 6d; beef, 245. The quantity of wool catalogued to date is 60,000 bales, of which 57,000 have been sold. Oct. 1. At the wool auction prices ar® firm, but unchanged.
A young Frenchman named Charles Adams, 29 years of age, was lost overboard and drowned off Wangarei, He was seaman on board the cutter Mary Ann, and as the vessel was sailing down the Wangarei river for Auckland he was knocked overboard by a wooden clea ; giving way in a stiff breeze, and sank. A seaman named Neil put off in a dingy, which capsized, and he nearly lost his life. The Stock Conference at Sydney in 1886 recommended the holding of meetings triennially, and the Australian Governments, in pursuance thereof, propose to hold a meeting in November. New Zealand will probably be represented, and it is likely that Mr Richardson, Minister of Lands, who has never been t® Australia, will t ba the delegate.
