Mr Ounnrad waited upon the board, and applied for a few loads of shingle for the front of his premises. Mr Cunnard explained that he required it for making up the footpath in front of his premises. The board said that there was a charge of Is made for shiaglo. Mr Cunnard said that others had received shingle. The overseer stated that in one case a person had taken shingle without permission, He had informed him that it would be charged for. Mr Yallender proposed?— “ That seeing that the street in question is the only one formed out to High street, and in view of Mr Fletcher’s offer, the request be granted.” Seconded by Mr Frew, and carried. otebssxr’s report. The overseer’s report was read and dealt with as follows: — Gentlemen, —I bays the houor to report that during the past month I deemed it advisable, owing to the wet weather, to defer the work authorised to be done on North Town Belt. The road is now gradually getting drier, and work might be eommenoed shortly. I have had John Street chipped, and have arranged for carrying some of the surface water from. Denmark Street direct to the creek. A few pipes or a small wooden culvert will be required to complete the work. A erossing has also been made from John Street to High Street. The soil moved I purpose having placed in the hollow on the footpath in front of Reserve 1701. This will slop a considerable portion of water from accumulating thereon, I found, on examination, that tho removal of the culvert near the cemetery would nob have the effect anticipated. A considerable amount of water could be taken, from John Street to High Street by means ef a water-table, and the balance could be disposed of by drainage to the creek. Tenders have been called for carting soil for filling up footpath in Denmark Street. I would suggest that in view of the regular traffic from deferred-payment settlement a lamp be erected iu the corner of Maude Street. Denmark Street will shortly be fenced on both sides, and the closing of old track is likely to cause inconvenience. The lamp, if properly placed, would serve as a guide for persona travelling over half a mile of road.—l am, etc., A. W. Gam, Overseer.

It was arranged that the overseer attend to further work required at John, street, and the other works already authorised. Me Lamp —The beard could not at present see it way to incur the cost. TEOT)EES. The following tenders were received for contract No. 12, carting clay :—• P. O’Mara, 9d per yard (informal) ; TV Greedy, (informal)'; Caleb Bateman, Washington and Douglas, 6d; T. McAteer, sfd (accepted). ACCOTTNTB. Accounts amounting to £3 8s were passed for payment. BATS. Mr Ashwell moved —“ That the board do now strike a rate of one halfpenny in the £ on aU rateable property in the Arowhenua Town District,”—Seconded by Mr Prew, and carried. The hoard then adjourned.
